Student Sexuality Information Service is an on-campus, student run organization devoted to promoting the sexual health of the Brandeis University community through various services.

All counselors are extensively trained students volunteering our time to work at SSIS. We are a non-profit organization and subsidized by the University, so we sell everything at or below cost.

Our services are completely confidential. Nothing you tell us will ever leave SSIS, and, with the exception of borrowing our books, we never even ask you for your name.

We are located in the Shapiro Campus Center on the third floor. Climb the stairs in the student center to the top and take a right, bearing left at a fork. You should see a sign advertising our hours at the end of the hall. Enter the lounge to the right and we are in the first office to the left.

We are open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00 to 5:00 pm, and Thursdays from 12:00 to 7:00 pm.

You may contact us in various ways. You can drop in anytime during our office hours (see above). You can also call us at (781) 736-3695 (or x6-3695 on-campus). We sell various forms of safer sex products (including male and female condoms, dental dams, personal lubricants, and spermicides) and contraceptives at inexpensive, clinic prices. We also sell home pregnancy tests, alternative menstrual products, and some sex toys.  Please check out our full menu.

We are always willing to answer any questions and address any concerns you may have. We are available for confidential one-on-one peer counseling on a drop-in basis. Questions do not necessarily have to be limited to those of a sexual nature. There is usually at least one female in the office at all times, so students who feel more comfortable talking to a female have that opportunity. We also encourage students to e-mail us questions.

We have an extensive library of sexuality-related books that may be borrowed for personal or academic purposes. There is a 2 book limit to the number of books you may borrow, although we do require your name and phone number when you borrow our books.

We serve as a reference service as well. We have available the locations and phone numbers for various on-campus and off-campus doctors, clinics, and hotlines.

We hold dorm raps with dormitory halls throughout the school year. During each dorm rap we discuss safer sex and contraception issues with the students. If you are a residential advisor at Brandeis who would like a dorm rap conducted in your hall, please contact us.
